HOSTS JAPAN BEAT SOUTH AFRICA IN TOKYO.

It was another close match today this time against Japan and although there was a chance at one stage, the under 16 IC team went down 2-4.

The chance came in the girls doubles when in the second set they led 5 4 and had three set points to force the final set tie break but could not capitalize on this and went down 36 57. Joubert Klopper again went close and again lost in the deciding tie break 8 10. This after winning the first set comfortably 62 but lost the second 6 3. Two tough loses in the decided are hard to bear but a win for him must be just around the corner.

Our two wins came from Linge Steenkamp who won her singles 62 64 and the boys, Robbie Arendse and Joubert played brilliant doubles to lose just one game.

Robbie again came up against a much stronger opponent and went down 36 16 but fought all the way and Ntokozo Zungu could not follow up her win on the first day to go down 26 16.

Again local knowledge and greater clay court experience told and tomorrow they come up against India who, like us, has also lost their opening two matches.
