JUNIORS BACK ON HARD COURTS IN OSAKA

The three juniors who went to Osaka to play in the Osaka Mayor’s Cup which is a Grade A tournament, are happier being back on their favorite hard courts.

Robbie Arendse had a very good win over Japan’s Ryuya Ata 63 63 playing some superb aggressive tennis picking his spots well on his serve and retuning his opponents serve exceptionally well. He mixed some solid discipline with grinding out the point when necessary from the baseline and also producing some brilliant passing shots.

It was a tough loss for Linge Steenkamp to take against Japans Erika Matsuda as she was very much in the first set until four all.  Each player was able to break the others serve and at four all Linge had chances to win her serve but failed and then had a chance to break back but was unable to clinch it.  After the loss of the set sadly Linge could not get back into the match going down 16 in the second set.

Joubert Klopper is in action tomorrow against the wild carded Kei Manaka. The winner of that match looks like then having to meet the top seed in the next round. They also have the first round of the doubles to play tomorrow.
